동시대 미술의 흐름을 읽는 예술 담론의 장

컨버세이션스는 아트부산이 매해 선보이는 예술 담론 프로그램으로, 동시대 미술의 흐름과 주요 이슈를 다각도로 조망하는 대화의 장입니다. 2025년에는 라인문화재단, 부산시립미술관, 오아르미술관, 도쿄 겐다이, 개러지 현대미술관, 홍콩 서퍼클럽 등 국내외 주요 기관과의 협업 아래, 큐레이터, 작가, 컬렉터 등이 참여해 정체성, 장소성, 협업의 지형 등 동시대 미술의 핵심 쟁점과 함께, 변화하는 글로벌 미술 지형 속 아시아 아트신의 역할과 시장, 제도 간 협업의 가능성을 조명합니다.

CONVERSATIONS is Art Busan’s annual discourse program that explores the currents and key issues of contemporary art from multiple perspectives. The 2025 edition features eight sessions developed in collaboration with major institutions including the Line Cultural Foundation, Busan Museum of Art, OAR Museum, Tokyo Gendai, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, and Supper Club Hong Kong. Curators, artists, and collectors will discuss themes such as identity, site-specificity, and models of collaboration, while also examining the role, influence, and institutional potential of the Asian art scene in a shifting global landscape.

    공간은 예술을 담는 그릇일 뿐일까, 아니면 예술과 함께 반응하며 새로운 의미를 만들어내는 존재일까? 이번 세션에는 지난 4월 경주에 새로 개관한 전시 공간을 매개로 협업한 작가 에가미 에츠와 건축가 유현준이 함께한다. 김건희 오아르미술관 부관장의 진행 아래, 두 연사는 장소특정적 공간에서의 예술 실천, 창작과 설계의 교차점, 그리고 건축과 예술이 서로에게 감응하는 과정을 이야기한다.

    Is space merely a vessel for art, or can it engage with it—shaping new meaning in the process? In this session, artist Etsu Egami and architect Hyunjoon Yoo reflect on their recent collaboration at a newly opened exhibition space in Gyeongju. Moderated by Gunhee Kim, Deputy Director of OAR Contemporary Art Museum, the conversation delves into site-specific practice, the intersection of creation and design, and the reciprocal resonance between art and architecture.

    오늘날 우리가 살아가는 세계는 ‘경계’라는 개념을 통해 분절되고 규정되지만, 그 경계는 고정되거나 단일하지 않다. 이번 세션은 아트부산 2025 커넥트 특별전 〈조각난 세계, 살아있는 것들〉의 참여 작가 권도연, 김상돈, 김옥선, 알렉산더 우가이와 전시를 기획한 고원석 디렉터가 함께한다. 작가들은 현실의 구획이 만들어내는 긴장과 균열, 그리고 그 사이에 놓인 존재의 감각에 주목하며, 이주와 정체성, 장소성과 기억 같은 주제를 바탕으로 동시대 미술이 경계를 어떻게 감각하고 사유하는지를 이야기한다.


    “Art moves across boundaries—and makes them tremble.” As part of Fragmented World, Living Entities, artists Doyeon Gwon, Sangdon Kim, Oksun Kim, and Alexander Ugay join curator Wonseok Koh in conversation. Together, they reflect on how contemporary art perceives and rethinks boundaries through themes of migration, identity, memory, and place.

    오늘날 동시대 미술을 큐레이팅한다는 것의 의미를 넘어, 전시를 통해 장소와 시간, 관객과 맥락에 응답하는 이야기를 어떻게 구축하는지에 대해 논의한다. 본 세션은 러시아 미술계에서 개러지 뮤지엄의 컬렉션, 프로그램과 전시를 통해 담아내고자 하는 이야기와 미술기관으로서의 역할을 다룬다. 또 아시아, 미국, 인도 등지의 국제 미술계에서 쌓아온 독립 큐레이터의 시각에서 다층적인 글로벌 예술 생태계 속에서 기관과 독립 주체는 어떤 방식으로 연결되고 또 변화하고 있는지에 대한 인사이트를 공유한다.

    What does it mean to curate with perspective in today’s global art context? From institutional collections to independently curated projects, the dialogue will explore how contemporary art becomes a site of narrative — a space to reflect, reframe, and reconnect with time, place, and public. Drawing on their experiences across Russia, Asia, and beyond, the speakers will share insights into the evolving role of the curator and how perspective shapes meaning in the art world today.

    독일 베를린현대미술관(Hamburger Bahnhof)은 아시아 현대미술에 대한 관심과 협업을 지속해 온 글로벌 미술관이다. 본 세션은 베를린 현대미술관에서 한국 작가의 전시를 담당한 큐레이터가 참여해, 아시아 작가와의 협업 방식, 제도적 접근 전략, 그리고 변화하는 아시아 미술 지형 속에서 미술관이 수행하는 역할을 공유한다. 또한, 글로벌 미술 담론 안에서 아시아 작가의 위상, 시장의 영향, 제도 간 협업의 가능성에 대해서도 논의한다.

    Hamburger Bahnhof (Berlin) have been steadily expanding their engagement with Asian contemporary art. This session brings together the curator from one of the most established museums in Europe to discuss institutional approach within the art world, collaborations with artists from Asia, and the evolving landscape of Asian art in global discourse. The conversation will reflect on how museums navigate cultural narratives across regions, and how current market and institutional dynamics are shaping the visibility and trajectories of Asian artists.
