동시대 미술의 흐름을 읽는 예술 담론의 장

컨버세이션스는 아트부산이 매해 선보이는 예술 담론 프로그램으로, 동시대 미술의 흐름과 주요 이슈를 다각도로 조망하는 대화의 장입니다. 2025년에는 라인문화재단, 부산시립미술관, 오아르미술관, 도쿄 겐다이, 개러지 현대미술관, 홍콩 서퍼클럽 등 국내외 주요 기관과의 협업 아래, 큐레이터, 작가, 컬렉터 등이 참여해 정체성, 장소성, 협업의 지형 등 동시대 미술의 핵심 쟁점과 함께, 변화하는 글로벌 미술 지형 속 아시아 아트신의 역할과 시장, 제도 간 협업의 가능성을 조명합니다.

CONVERSATIONS is Art Busan’s annual discourse program that explores the currents and key issues of contemporary art from multiple perspectives. The 2025 edition features eight sessions developed in collaboration with major institutions including the Line Cultural Foundation, Busan Museum of Art, OAR Museum, Tokyo Gendai, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, and Supper Club Hong Kong. Curators, artists, and collectors will discuss themes such as identity, site-specificity, and models of collaboration, while also examining the role, influence, and institutional potential of the Asian art scene in a shifting global landscape.

    아시아 미술 신은 점차 더 긴밀히 연결되며, 제도, 갤러리, 컬렉터, 문화 플랫폼 간 새로운 관계의 지형을 형성하고 있다. 이번 세션에서는 도쿄 겐다이의 에리 타카네 디렉터, 홍콩 서퍼클럽과 PHD 그룹의 공동설립자 윌렘 몰스워스, 아트부산의 정석호 디렉터, 그리고 주중프랑스상공회의소 부회장이자 컬렉터인 파비앙 파코리가 패널로 참여한다. 아트넷 런던 특파원이자 The Asia Pivot 공동설립자인 비비안 차우가 모더레이터를 맡는다. 각기 다른 위치에서 아시아 미술 생태계를 만들어온 이들이 한자리에 모여, 제도적 협력과 시장 흐름, 그리고 문화적 전략에 대해 논의한다.

    As the Asian art scene becomes increasingly interconnected, new dynamics are forming between institutions, galleries, collectors, and cultural platforms.
    This session brings together Eri Takane (Director, Tokyo Gendai), Willem Molesworth (Co-Founder, Supper Club & PHD Group), Seokho Jeong (Director, Art Busan), and Fabien Pacory (Collector; EVP, CCI France Chine), moderated by Vivienne Chow (London Correspondent, Artnet; Co-founder, The Asia Pivot). Together, they will explore institutional collaborations, evolving market strategies, and the cultural forces shaping the region’s art ecosystem.

    리이 LY

    현대 일본 미술계에서 주목받는 작가 LY(리이)는 스트리트 아트와 순수미술의 경계를 넘나들며 독자적인 예술 세계를 구축해왔다. 아트부산 참여와 함께 한국 첫 개인전 Singing Birds를 기념해 열리는 이번 세션에서는, 부산시립미술관 정종효 학예실장과 함께 대표 캐릭터 LUV를 중심으로 작가의 시각 언어를 살펴본다. 단순하고 무표정한 LUV는 감정과 공허, 주체와 타자의 긴장을 시각화하며, 관람객의 감정 투사와 해석을 유도한다. LY의 작업은 슈퍼플랫 미학에 뿌리를 두면서도 상업성과 예술성의 경계를 허물며, 글로벌 미술 시장에서 동시대 미술의 방향성을 탐색한다.

    Japanese artist LY has built a unique style that merges street and fine art. In this session, celebrating LY’s first Korean solo show Singing Birds, LY joins Jonghyo cheong (Chief Curator, Busan Museum of Art) to discuss the artist’s emblematic character LUV. LUV’s minimal, unreadable expression reflects emotional tension and invites audience projection. While rooted in the Superflat aesthetic, LY’s work blurs the boundaries between commercial culture and artistic intent, offering insight into today’s evolving art landscape.

    홍순명 Hong Soun

    Sidescape는 홍순명 작가가 20여년간 탐구해 온 회화 시리즈로 중심과 주변의 고정된 구도를 전복하는 독창적인 미학 개념이다. 이번 아티스트 토크에서 홍순명은 아트부산 2025 출품작을 바탕으로, 중심이 아닌 주변의 관점에서 바라보는 사유, 기존 질서를 낯설게 만드는 시각적 실험에 대해 이야기 한다.

    Sidescape is a long-running painting series by artist Hong Soun, developed over two decades as a unique aesthetic that challenges fixed notions of center and periphery. In this artist talk, Hong will discuss his works presented at Art Busan 2025, exploring visual experiments and perspectives that subvert familiar orders by shifting the gaze toward the margins.
